How does Oasis Tears enhance post-op experience?
Mihir Parikh, MD
After surgery, whether it’s LASIK or cataract surgery, vision is obviously the outcome that everyone is looking for – patients and doctors. If the dry eye – if the patient has dry eyes after surgery and that’s not addressed, the patient will have blurry vision in many cases. So we always like to keep aggressive management of dry eyes, especially post-surgery, to get the best visual outcome. Once again, if you use a product that only requires once-, maybe twice-a-day application, that’s ideal for the patient as well as also getting great visual results, and Oasis TEARS is that product for me.
Long term benefits of using Oasis Tears
John Lahar, OD
The long term therapeutic effect of the combination of the long-chain molecule hyaluronic acid and glycerin is long or contact residence time on the surface of the cornea. This allows the patient to have fewer applications and still maintain good quality vision. The hyaluronic acid, because it’s an elastic molecule, allows the patient to blink many, many times before we finally will get a breakdown and flushing out of the tear. The other aspect is – by keeping the surface of the cornea moist with the glycerin, we’re maintaining and lowering osmolarity, and we know that osmolarity is a key factor in low-grade and even moderate inflammatory response on the anterior surface. Oasis TEARS helps maintain control of osmolarity.
